Today, I am a busy bee but I review the July Blush Beauty Mystery Box…

I’m a bit busy today so please excuse me for the rushed post! I’ve always had great things to say about the blush mystery boxes, but I was a bit disappointed in this one. However, I think it’s the fact that I don’t really have any use for quite of the few products. If I were to be a little more objective, I’d say that the box provided a great variety of products and definitely has a GREAT value. Six out of the seven items were full-sized items! So what did I receive? See below 🙂

Blush Mystery Box
The Box: mostly full- and (some) travel-size products worth at least $100 + a free gift with every box
Cost: $24.95 (monthly subscription)/ $34.95 (one time subscription) … free shipping!
Coupon: If you’d like to try blush out but are not willing to subscription, send me an email at todaycommai@gmail.com and I’ll send you a link for a $10.00 gift card off your one-time subscription 🙂

Philip B Self-Adjusting Hair Spray (5.07 fl oz/ $22.00)
Full size! Hair spray… but I don’t use hairspray. Expect this in a giveaway soon 🙂 From reviews I’ve read online, seems like you have to be careful with this one… the spray doesn’t function very neatly, so if you’re planning on using it, I’d suggesting using it over a bathroom sink! And wear something you don’t mind getting hairspray all over!

Lumene Vitamin C+ Pure Radiance 24 h Lotion (50 ml/ $19.99)
I feel like I’ve received too many Lumene products lately… This one’s for the face for a brighter complexion.

Emani Organic Lip Shine ($16.00)
Vegan lip gloss

Bioelements Quick Refiner (~$3.83)
It would happen that the one sample product in the box is the one that I’m most excited to try out. It’s suppose to

  • Eliminates dead surface cells
  • Uncovers smoother, softer skin
  • Targets the appearance of pores

FREE SAMPLE Airbrush Eye Refining Treatment  (click on photo above to view what it says… )

Deborah Lippman Nail Polish in electric indigo (full size/$19.00)
NINETEEN DOLLARS for a nail polish?! I guess I’ve started using nail polish and it’s pretty fun. I’ve also been looking for a dark purple so I’m excited to try this out 🙂

dr dennis gross Alpha Beta Glow Pad (10 wipes/ $18.00)
I’ve used one before… and they’re pretty awesome… however, I don’t really used tanners of any sort… so I think this will go in a giveaway too!

Hydroxatone AM/PM Wrinkle Complex (0.5 oz/ $34.97)
I’ve also have a stash of Hydroxatone products in my apartment… I will actually be reviewing this particular product in an upcoming blog post (I received it from iFabbo shop) … so stay tuned for that! General note? It’s a bit greasy, seems like it’s moisturizing… #1) I haven’t used it long enough & 2) I’m not at the stage yet to noticed visible differences in wrinkles and such 😛

Final thoughts? From an objective standpoint, this was a GREAT box in variety of products and value. The value of the box came to $133.79!!!!! Personally, I thought it was an okay box… the value of the ~3 products that I liked is greater than the $24.95 that I paid for the box… so not bad. Looking towards the future, it’d be great if Blush could have a survey or profile for us to fill out stating our product preferences and skin/hair/etc type. But blush still remains as one of my favorite subscription boxes as of right now, so I’ll stay with them 🙂

Today, I’m back with my totalbeauty and blush mystery box!

I took a small weekend getaway (down the street to North Bethesda’s fancy hotel – I just recently learned how to bid for hotels on Priceline.com). Massages, heated pools, room service (lovely breakfast tray), fire alarms in hotels, fire trucks coming 😛

Two beauty boxes came! And you might be familiar with the feeling. Receiving email that the box is on its way –> anticipation –> box gets delivered –> excitment …. OPENING of the boxes… wheeeee. Anyways, here’s what came!

TotalBeauty Collection

I actually saw a couple of YouTube videos regarding this box so that when I opened mine, I wasn’t AS disappointed. They definitely had misleading information but oh wells. I’m still fairly happy with the products.

Revealing the box! I see a lot of Orange packets. … ….

Going from left to right –

  • Ferro Cosmetics Blush in Suzie Glow and Terra Cotta (Total value ~$6) – Check out the shades below in the picture below (C & D). I really like Suzie’s Glow (perfect pink glow). Both are nice 🙂 Note: They spill out of their containers really easily… I just ended up giving my desk a makeover with the blush. Be sure to open it in the bathroom or on a tissue paper.
  • Neutrogena naturals lip balm (0.15 oz/ $2.99) – Full Size!  I’m a fan of the Neturogena naturals brand (no harsh chemical sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes, phthalates). Very light beeswax/pepperminty scent.
  • NYX Roll On Shimmer in Mauve Pink (0.052 oz / $4.00) Full Size! I like ! I like! I like! I will definitely use this on my eyes, my cheeks… they say that it can also be used for the body… but I’m not a body shimmer gal. Maybe one day! 😛
  • NYX Color Lip Balm in Thank you (0.14 oz/ $3.00) – Lip Balms that always give color are the best. Less stuff for you to apply 🙂

  • Ziaja Goat’s Milk Eye Cream (0.5 ml / $7.99) – Another full size item! Do eye creams actually work? I know I should also work on getting enough sleep, eating right, making sure not to let them bake in the sun, etc. But for now, I’ll put all my faith in these creams. This is for dry & wrinkle prone skin … and moisturizes, tones, tightens and smooths the area under your eyes.
  • Juara Candlenut Body Creme (0.17 oz / ~$0.80) – Beaty Secrets from Bali? Excited to check this out.
  • AlfaParf Semi di Lino Diamond Illuminating Serum (~$10 value) – A serum (for the hair) that contains linseed extract and Vitamin E anti-oxidant to soften your hair. In general, I feel like a little serum goes a long way and my brittle/damaged hair will probably need this.

photo 5 (14)

  • EVOLVh UltraShine Moisture Shampoo (2 oz/ $7.00) and Conditioner (2 oz / $7.00) – Perfect for travel!
  • The Honest Co. honest healing balm (1 oz / $4.31)  and honest face & body lotion (1 oz/ $1.48) – Lotions/Balms that are perfect travel size products! I received an Honest Co. lip balm somewhere (I’m getting all these boxes confused) and really liked it… so I have good feelings about these two.

I don’t really care much for this last group. Well, I like the q-tips… but the others, I don’t care for. I just realized now (and I’m too lazy to correct this) that the wine gift card has the code/password on there. Well if you happen to like wine, want the gift card and are quick to act, go ahead and use the code! LOL FREE CODE. LUCKY READER OUT THERE, FEEL FREE TO CLAIM. haha.

Verdict? Despite feeling a bit misled (this was not $100 worth of beauty products)… I feel like I will actually use all the products, so I’m a happy gal. 🙂 I paid $17.00 ($20 without the coupon code that I used + free shipping) for about $60 worth of products.

Blush Mystery Box

I’m so happy that I signed up for the Blush mystery boxes (<–if you still want to purchase this box, you can). This, along with the NewBeauty & QVC test tubes, is one of my favorite subscription boxes. This month’s wasn’t as great as the last two, but I am still happy with it. Better than other boxes 🙂

The mystery bag + free sample :)

The mystery bag + free sample 🙂

Free sampleInnovative Skincare Instant Smoothing Gel 0.06 oz (Value: 11.76) – WOAH the thing that caught my eye… $98.00 for a 0.5 fl oz product?!?!?!?!?  Well, I don’t really have wrinkles… but maybe I’ll try it on my forehead. Haha…

photo 3 (21)

  • Hydroxatone Revitalizing Microdermabrasion (0.5 oz/ $15.00) – I just opened it and tried it…. before I even looked at the other products. I don’t know why I’m obsessed with exfoliating my skin… I guess I just want it to be radiant! But don’t worry… I know to only do that 2-3 times per week. My thoughts? A nice texture that was not too rough. I wish that it were in a different form… like maybe a pump or even a squeeze bottle. I made such a mess trying to scoop it out… but maybe that’s my own fault 😛
  • Glytone Sunscreen Spray Mist 50+ Water Resistant (6 fl oz/$39.00) – This was the product that they revealed would be in every mystery box. It’s come in a perfect time. Now I don’t have to drag my derriere to a drugstore to buy sunscreen. Yippeeee! And a spray sunscreen is always easy to apply than a lotion/cream.

photo 4 (19)

  • Decleor Aroma Cleanse Youth Cleansing Milk (0.33 oz/ $1.92) and Youth Lotion (0.33 oz/ $1.92) – Great travel size cleanser + toner!
  • DHC Clarifying Pore Cover Base (0.42 oz/ $19.00) – I believe DHC is a Japanese brand… (I think… this is coming from my memory… which sometimes is not the best). I do like their products. I don’t really wear primers… but I’ll give this a try.
  • Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in Glow Enhancer (0.5 oz/ $5.02) – I’m not a fan of this brand/these products…. I think more so because I don’t have any use for them. Maybe they’ll appear in a giveaway (I’m thinking … July, maybe? 😛 )
  • Stila Lip Glaze in kaleidoscope (0.05 oz/$13.75)  – This seems to be a shade from last fall… looks pretty and sparkly! I suppose I’ll save it for this fall. August/September will be here soon enough!
  • Supergoop! CC Cream SPF 35 (3 ml/ $2.04 ) – I still have quite caught on to CC creams yet… I’m a skeptic. Seems to me just like a fancier version of BB… a way to make money. Haha, but if you think I’m wrong, please let me know and I’ll give this a chance! 😛

Like I mentioned above, not my favorite box… but definitely content with this box 🙂 The total value of this box without sample came to $95.73. Definitely one of the best value for your money box. 🙂 What did you think of your box?

Today (or rather yesterday), I received gifts from me!

So here it goes. First off, my Jewelmint Mystery box. If you haven’t heard of JewelMint (http://www.jewelmint.com) before, well don’t be shocked. I’m still a bit confused, but I do get really nice jewelry! This is the second mystery box I’ve purchased and I’ve always liked at least 2/3 of the items they send me. And I figured for that 1/3 or 1/4 thing that I don’t like, why don’t I gift it? It’s not that’s it’s terrible, it’s just not my personal style. Here we go!

JewelMint Black Friday Mystery Box!

JewelMint Black Friday Mystery Box!

Ta Da! So this time, I received 2 necklaces (one lovely sea-themed necklace, I love the way the anchor is attached, and another one that would be lovely minus the two pointing spears that jut out), three bracelets (that can be worn all at once, but I think are just as elegant worn individually), and really nice earrings (I love the colors, they’re fun!). So I am a happy Jarkie today. So happy that those three bracelets are already on my wrist as I type this 🙂

December Birchbox!

December Birchbox!

Ta Da! My November birchbox (http://www.birchbox.com/) was a bit disappointing as I had received mascara and hairspray (both I could care less for). The December box has definitely redeemed Birchbox’s name in my eyes. First off, before we begin, for the Lifestyle extra, they gave me Dark Chocolate Peppermint Holiday Fortune Cookie (Emily’s Chocolates; “filled with festive messages, these treats have surpassed ginger snap cookies as a favorite holiday goodie”). I love fortune cookies. I love Peppermint. And Dark Chocolate, well I’ll have to keep an open mind.

  1. Juice Beauty – Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream – I think CC is a spin off of BB. It takes it to the next level (apparently) as Color Control Cream! They should just called it CCC (which mind you is a hospital building at Georgetown University).  It is suppose to improve my skin tone with its vitamin C and grape-derived resveratrol. Hmmm, well they know how to get me. Skin care products/creams = Jarkie’s Achilles Heel
  2. Kerastase – Resistance Ciment Thermique I got two travel size pouches of this heat-activated leave-in conditioner that is suppose to protect my hair before I “bust out” the hot tools. I guess that’s useful if I ever decide to use a curling iron 🙂
  3. Nicole Richie Fragrances – Nicole by Nicole Richie – “creamy amber and rose touched with a hint of vanilla” – I am wearing this today, only one spritz and boy is it strong and creamy indeed. A bit too strong for me. I might faint.
  4. theBalm cosmetics – Mary-Lou Manizer – it’s in the cute box (bottom left) and can be used as a highlighter, shadow, all-over shimmer. Now this one is useful! 🙂 Indeed! I will sparkle and shimmer! HAHA

I am quite excited to try out these products!
